With preparations already underway regarding the new 2024/25 campaign, CAF has reportedly taken a major decision regarding the African Football League competition.

Earlier this week, African football's governing body released a statement explaining important details pertaining to how the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will be operating in the new campaign, but the institution made no mention of the newly formed African Football League therein.
The AFL is a tournament that was introduced into the football calendar at the start of last season by CAF and FIFA, and many questions remained as to what its second edition will look like, or when it will even take place.
According to Al Watan, the tournament will go ahead as planned in the new campaign, with Dr Patrice Motsepe believed to be currently exploring the best ways to improve the competition.

The same report claims that, for the time being there is an intent to expand the number of participants in the AFL after it started with only eight sides last season.
It is also said that Motsepe is in discussion with new potential sponsors in order to provide better finances for the competition.
