On Wednesday night, European football's premier club competition will be making a return to St. James Park for the first time in 21 years as the Magpies take on record Ligue 1 champions PSG.
One of the key battles on the pitch will likely be between Kieran Trippier and Les Parisiens' all-time top goalscorer on the wing.
The England international has acknowledged the Bondy native as being one of the best players in the world during a pre-match press conference, and revealed his son is a big fan of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
"These are the levels you want to play at, playing the best players, the best teams," the right-back said, as per Goal.
"We need to recognise Mbappe is one of the best in the world, but they have quality all over the pitch. But we can't just focus on them, because on our day I think we can hurt anyone.
"I played against him [Mbappe] during his debut game for Monaco at Tottenham [Hotspur], and for England on my debut quite a few years ago. He's a fantastic player. You want to play against the best players in the world.
"... I was having banter with him [Trippier's son] last night. He wanted to walk out with him [Mbappe] instead of me, it was something I wasn't really happy with. He's always watching his clips on YouTube.
