With Lionel Messi's Paris Saint-Germain career all but over, the Argentine is now reportedly negotiating the biggest football contract in history with his potential new team.

According to The Telegraph, the Saudi Arabian government is preparing to offer the diminutive footballer a mammoth deal worth £320 million (R7.3 billion) to join a Saudi Pro League side.
The news emerges after it was reported that the Rosario native has become disillusioned with his time in the French capital and has decided against extending with them beyond the end of the season.
The 35-year-old has endured a tumultuous time in Paris, culminating in him being suspended for two weeks from the team for taking an unauthorised trip to the Gulf state.
It was on this trip that it is suggested that the Argentina international was wooed by the Saudis, trying to convince him to play his club football there next.
While it has not been exactly determined which team Messi would sign for if he made the move, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner has been heavily touted to join Al Nassr's rivals, Al Hilal.
The forward's deal would also be significantly more lucrative than Cristiano Ronaldo's £177 million (R4 billion)-a-year contract.
In a press release, the nation claimed that during his trip, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was "enchanted" by a falcon trained to stand on his shoulder, while his spouse Antonella Roccuzzo took part in local tradition by wearing a Saudi hama on her head.
With the attacker almost certain to leave the Parc des Prince, the Saudi Pro League will likely provide the football icon with the most lucrative deal, but Inter Miami and Barcelona are also still in the running to land Messi's signature.

Barca would likely be Messi's preferred destination, but because the Spanish club is still marred by the very financial constraints that saw him leave them in the first place, at this moment it seems unlikely that the two-time FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner will make a return to Catalonia.
