With Xavi Hernandez having come under serious pressure in Spain, Barcelona have reportedly identified two managers who could potentially replace the Spanish tactician.
Barca's Eight-Man Transfer Shortlist 'Revealed'
Despite a positive start to the latest LaLiga campaign, there have been major concerns over the Blaugrana's UEFA Champions League form this season after the side's 3-3 draw with Inter Milan last week left their fate in Europe out of their hands.
The negativity that followed that result was only worsened by Barca's ElClasico defeat to Real Madrid this past weekend, an encounter in which Carlo Ancelotti's men dominated and, at times, toyed with their fierce rivals.
While president Joan Laporta has insisted he will continue to support Xavi, whose squad was improved with some high-profile signings ahead of the 2022/23 season, reports suggest that the Catalans are considering their options.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has emerged as a possible candidate to replace Xavi should matters get worse in the coming weeks.
The German tactician is currently unemployed following his shock sacking by the Blues earlier this season, a decision from new club co-owner Todd Boehly that was said to leave the 49-year-old devastated.
Argentine tactician Marcelo Gallardo is also said to be an option for Barcelona, who had conceded just a single goal in LaLiga prior to their loss to the 14-time European champions at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
Gallardo recently stepped down from his role as manager of River Plate in Argentina, and has previously been linked with the Catalans.
Positive results, including a 4-0 win in ElClasico, last season led to a feeling that Barca were heading in the right direction under Xavi, whose side will host Villarreal in LaLiga on Thursday night.
