"As we speak now his contract will run until June 2027. The club has already exercised the two years on his contract. It's not a direct extension or a new contract. For now they have taken up the option they had on the player and that's within their rights to do so. His previous contract was coming to an end in June this year," the insider told Soccer Laduma.
A second insider stated that the club aims to retain all their experienced strikers while also exploring the addition of signing another striker next season.

"What they want to do is to try and keep Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa and Zakhele Lepasa but they are not ruling out bringing in another one next season. They have already identified some of those strikers who they are targeting next season. But for the ones who are at the team, they are set to keep them," the second source revealed.
Last season, Mabasa won the Golden Boot award, first contributing to Moroka Swallows (on loan) and then Bucs later in the campaign. So far this season, the 28-year-old has not been as prolific as he was last season because head coach Jose Riveiro has utilised a number of attacking players who have shared the goals scored for the team.
Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
