Soccer Laduma sends condolences to the family and friends of Lukhubeni, as well as his players and the club during this time of difficulty.

Meanwhile, the Siya crew can confirm that it is the second gun incident that has happened in local football these past few days after shots were fired at the Harry Gwala Stadium, following the ABC Motsepe League play-offs match between Orbit College and Umsinga United.

SAFA Cape Town has commented on the unfortunate incident.

"SAFA Cape Town have noted an incident which took place after the conclusion of fixtures at Site C Lingelethu during Sunday's SAFA Cape Town Coca-Cola Cup action. The President, The Executive, and the Regional Executive Committee, have all been informed of the latest developments and will continue to be kept abreast of developments as and when informed by local law enforcement and SAPS. It is imperative to note at this stage that it is believed the incident is entirely unrelated to football matters and the relevant authorities must be given room to investigate the matter in its entirety. We are devastated to have heard what transpired, which was immediately attended to by SAFA Cape Town Vice President, Nomonde Ndyoko, who was at the venue on the day and was already outside the venue (departing) when notified of the news," read the statement.

"We implore our football community not to share any information pertaining to the incident, including witness reports or images, both out of respect to the families involved and the pending investigations which no doubt will be well underway already by local authorities. President Bennett Bailey said: "Violence has absolutely no place in football, and we condemn this in the strongest form. It is important that our players, staff and supporters feel completely and entirely safe at our venues and we will work with all stakeholders to do our absolute best to ensure the safety of all. On behalf of every member and administrator involved in Cape Town football, we wish to take this opportunity to share our heartfelt condolences with those affected by this awful tragedy."

"SAFA Cape Town will only comment further on the matter once more information is available and it has been given permission from authorities to share. Should any member of the public require trauma counselling or wish to come forward with information, we request that you contact the office immediately for urgent assistance or approach the Region via your Local Football Association," concluded SAFA.
