Goals by Mohau Mokate and Kwanda Mngonyama ensured the three points remain at home for Steve Komphela's side while Rise and Shine's Puleng Tlolane, netted for the Citizens.
Rise and Shine opened their campaign against University of Pretoria last Saturday by a 1-0 win and they travelled to the Team of Choice last night in high spirits, however, Solomons said they did well but an early injury and conceding a soft goal let them down.
"We played very well against Maritzburg unfortunately we got an injury in the early stages of the game, in the ninth minute where we had to take off Sipho Jembula and introduce Rendani Ndou. We conceded a soft goal when we were attacking and from a corner. Other than that, I believe we did well and we dominated in the last 25 minutes but we were unlucky not to equalise.
"Our focus now is on the game against Ajax Cape Town at home next week. We can't wait to play at home. We're looking at getting a win and continue our good run of form. We've made a fairly good start and it's always nice playing in front of home crowds," said Mzala.
