Kaizer Chiefs may have a stronger chance of landing their long-term target, Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, as Egyptian side Pyramids FC look to cash in on the player before his contract expires in June next year.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Pyramids initially valued Mayele between R22 million and R25 million. However, insiders now indicate that the club has lowered their asking price, making a move more feasible for Amakhosi.

"Chiefs have a great chance of signing Mayele this time around. It is believed that with his contract remaining with almost a year they want to make some cash before he becomes a free agent. It's apparently in the range of R12 million to R15 million and you know Chiefs' last offer was around R14 million so this means they can now afford to sign him. This could work well for Chiefs as they are also believed to be increasing their budget at a time when Pyramids want to cash in on Mayele," the source revealed to Soccer Laduma.
A second insider explained that Amakhosi are also evaluating a second option, Fagrie Lakay, who is another Pyramids FC player. However, they remain focused on Mayele as their primary target.

"The choice is now up to Chiefs. But from what we know their first priority is Mayele and they would only go for Lakay if they can't get him. But with the possibility of a lower asking price from Pyramids they could just go for Mayele. That's a decision they have to make now," the second source revealed.
Pyramids’ high potential to lower Mayele’s valuation could be a game-changer for Chiefs as they look to strengthen their squad with a proven goalscorer for next season.
