Former Bafana Bafana striker, Philemon Masinga, told the crew that he believes the national team will do well against Brazil.
The former lanky forward was speaking ahead of the international friendly against the former world champions' game at FNB stadium next Wednesday. Chippa, as the striker was known, said if they display the confidence and good football the way they did against Spain, they can get a good result.
"I know when the national team plays big countries in football, the players get motivated and end up performing exceptionally well. We haven't done too bad against Brazil and I see the boys rising to the occasion especially playing at home. Yes we'll be very proud of ourselves as a footballing nation if we can beat them. Spain also brought their best players and we beat them 1-0, we must be proud of that because these players play in the best leagues in the world.
"If we beat them, people will not say Kaka wasn't there, yes he wasn't there but they picked the best team. We had a good team and good coach at the time, Clive (Barker) told us that they have Rivaldo and Bebeto so we need to be confident and to believe in ourselves that we can beat them. We could've won the game, we scored two goals unfortunately they were experienced and they came back and won it. Rivaldo is the player who did the damage for them but I hope the players that are selected by Gordon Igesund will do well and make the nation proud again. I think the guys will do well and we just need to believe in them, support them and they can surprise the World Cup hosts," said the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Jomo Cosmos forward.
