Football Betting Tips - Here Are Tips Ahead Of Fixtures By Soccer 6.
English Premier League outfit, Tottenham Hotspur, host League One side, Sheffield United in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final at White Hart Lane on Wednesday, January 21. The Lilly Whites have so far claimed 11 victories of their last 12 League Cup games against lower division sides, with their only defeat coming in the second leg of a semi-final against Burnley back in 2009. Mauricio Pochettino's side will be aiming to reach their first final in six years. They were runners-up in 2009 after they had lost on penalties to Manchester United. Having bagged the trophy in 2008, the London club will look to edge closer to the final berth and hopefully win the trophy for a fifth time. Sheffield United, who are managed by Nigel Clough, are hoping to cause an upset in their bid to reach the League Cup final for the first time in their history. The last time these two sides met was in the Blades' last stint in the Premier League back in 2006-07, where they won 2-1 at Bramall Lane.   African Cup Nations Group C bottom-dwellers, South Africa, are set to redeem themselves in a do-or-die clash when they come up against super powers, Senegal, in their second Afcon tie on Friday, January 23, at the Estadio De Mongomo. Despite their dominance for a large part of their game in their previous fixture, Bafana Bafana fell short to be defeated 3-1 by the Desert Foxes of Algeria, largely due to squandered chances. Shakes Mashaba's charges know that a win will give them a glimmer of hope of making it into the last eight. Senegal on the other hand, who many believe are the strongest team in Group C, could be well within the knockout stages if they claim a victory against South Africa, who are ranked seven spots below them on the continent, following their come-from-behind 2-1 win over Ghana.   Ghana are on the brink of African Nations Cup exit following their 2-1 loss at the hands of Senegal in their opening Group C fixture on Monday. The Black Stars who led Senegal 1-0 at some stage in the game let slip of the lead when Alain Giresse's men 'stole' the three points in the dying seconds of the game, through supersub Moussa Sow. The number five-ranked African side will entertain Algeria at the Estadio De Mongomo on Friday, January 23, and it looks set to be seen if they can derail the continent's best side.   League Two side, Cambridge United, are in serious preparation for their FA Cup, fourth round clash against English Premier League giants, Manchester United, on Friday, January 23, at Abbey Stadium. The sides have not met since a League Cup tie in October of 1991, which Luis Van Gaal's men comfortably won 4-1. Former Barcelona shot-stopper, Victor Valdes, is expected to make his Manchester United debut since penning an 18 month deal with the Red Devils. The former Catalan, who has a lot of experience at his disposal, having won three Champions League titles and a World Cup, is set to don the gloves for United for the first time at the League Two side's 8,100-capacity home ground, since suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in Barcelona's clash with Celta Viga last March.Valdes was named on the bench for United's Premier League matches at QPR and at home to Southampton behind David de Gea, and will have a chance to prove himself to the Old Trafford faithful.
If you are a betting person, here are tips ahead of the fixtures brought to you by Soccer 6 and former PSL striker, Alton Meiring.    For more info on this and other fixtures, go to the Soccer 6 website here or the Soccer 6 mobi-site here!   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR V SHEFFIELD UNITED
League table: Spurs 7th and United 6th (in League One)   Useful facts: Spurs will be strong favourites in this league cup clash against third tier outfit, Sheffield United. The Lilywhites have enjoyed a good run of form of late and will expect to beat the Blades at White Hart Lane. Cup competitions can, however, sometimes produce giant killings, so United may take heart from that.   Alton Meiring: Spurs win – they're too strong.     SOUTH AFRICA V SENEGAL    FIFA ranking: SA 52nd and Senegal 35th    Useful facts: This is a crucial game for Bafana. After a disappointing loss to Algeria, Bafana must now bounce back with a  good performance against the combative Senegal, a physical side with plenty of weapons. This could be a nail-biter in Mongomo.      Alton Meiring: SA win.    GHANA V ALGERIA   FIFA ranking: Ghana 37th and Algeria 18th   Useful facts: In another huge Group C AFCON clash, Ghana take on the number one ranked African side, Algeria. This clash will have massive bearing in terms of the eventual winners of the group. The Algerians will be favourites after beating South Africa, however the Ghanaians are sure to be extremely competitive on the day.     Alton Meiring: Algeria win. They're a good side.    CAMBRIDGE UNITED V MANCHESTER UNITED   League position: Cambridge 12th (in League Two) and United 4th   Useful facts: In this FA Cup fourth round tie, minnows Cambridge United welcome the visiting Manchester United to the Abbey Stadium. The Red Devils have been stuttering of late, and are struggling to find the right combination at the back and in attack. This means Cambridge could give themselves a fighting chance of pulling off a surprise victory against all odds.    Alton Meiring: Man U win.
