Banyana Banyana captain, Janine van Wyk, revealed to the Siya crew that they'll work hard in preparation for their friendly against Ghana on Sunday.
Coach, Vera Pauw, announced her squad to face the Black Queens of Ghana in a friendly as they prepare for the African Women's Qualifiers.
The Dutch-born coach has selected her 23 member squad today eyeing the AWC qualifier against Comoros at the end of May.
The captain of the team, Janine van Wyk, revealed to the Siya crew that Ghana is a strong team in Africa. She also said they'll do everything in their power to fight and measure their progress under the new coach.
"Yes Ghana is one of the strongest teams in the continent but we'll take is a normal game. We just need to measure our progress and get ready for the AWC qualifiers. We have a big team now, everyone is looking sharp and we plan to give our best in the game. Everyone is enjoying the camp and we're up for the challenge.
"The coach wants us to play football you know, play as a team and we aim to continue where we left off against Zimbabwe. We did very well and a 2-2 draw wasn't a bad score. We have a new coach and there's a good vibe in the camp so we hope that'll be transferred into the game. With this squad, there's no player guaranteed a place in the starting line-up that means we'll have to work extra hard. We're getting to know and understand her philosophy because she's touring the country to watch our Sasol league games with a view to see and scout for new talent," added the JVW FC defender.
The match against the Black Queens of Ghana will get underway at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday at 15:00.
