Bradley Grobler can beat Gabadinho Mhango to the golden boot award

Having missed two penalties in consecutive games, SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler remains one goal behind Gabadinho Mhango in the race for the Golden Boot. Despite this, his coach Kaitano Tembo has maintained his faith in the Bafana Bafana forward.

Grobler is currently experiencing his best-ever goal return in the top flight with 13 league strikes to his name. He could have had two more, were it not for the penalties missed against Black Leopards and Orlando Pirates with spot kicks saved by King Ndlovu and Wayne Sandilands respectively.

As SuperSport look to cement a position in the top three, Tembo is backing the 32-year-old to come good in their penultimate fixtures.

"These are pressure situations where on any given day whether in training or in a match he would put those away. At the same time, he's got 13 goals, where if he scores one or two then he is top goalscorer, so it comes with added pressure as well.

"I was telling him as well, 'look this is the first time in a very long time where we have someone from our club fighting for the Golden Boot award,' and all we can do is try and support him to achieve that goal. As a team, you might not achieve your goals, but you can achieve individual goals. It does well for the morale of the team and for the player as well. He might come back a better player next season and that is what we want," Tembo told the media.

With two crucial matches against Baroka FC and Cape Town City , Tembo is hoping for a sprinkle of luck, both for his club and for his leading goalscorer.

"He scored a goal against Polokwane City, I think if he can just calm down, because he is still a very good player, his overall contribution in our attacking structure, he allows other players to play and that is his key role in the team. I just hope he gets lucky in the last two games and takes any opportunity that comes his way," Tembo concluded.
