AFCON 2017 gets under way on Saturday, when 16 national teams will battle it out to be crowned the African champions.
Supporters Club spoke to Orlando Pirates fan Dejan Miladinovic to get his thoughts on AFCON 2017, Bafana Bafana and the AFCON 2019 draw.
Favourites to win the tournament
"I think that Ghana are the favourites of the tournament. They were the runner-up in 2015, and they are a very strong team. Senegal is also a favourite. They have a strong squad and a lot of their players are Europe-based. Players to look out for in the Senegal team will be Sadio Mane and Mame Diouf. Both these teams will definitely do well."
Players to look out for
"There are a lot of good players but I think that we should look at those in the PSL, especially in the Zimbabwean team. You have Tendai Ndoro, Khama Billiat, Cuthbert Malajila and even Knowledge Musona, who played here. That is a good squad and they might surprise us. Billiat just won the CAF Champions League with Sundowns, and he will want to win AFCON also. We must not rule out Zimbabwe."
Bafana Bafana in AFCON 2019
"When a new coach is appointed, which I'm hoping is Pitso Mosimane, we need to start working right away. Mosimane has experience in CAF so that will benefit the team. Bafana Bafana will need to learn from other teams. We are in a strong group for AFCON 2019. We know that we are always against Nigeria so we need to be well prepared. It is not an easy group and Bafana Bafana cannot afford not to qualify again."
