NBK Cup Final Starting XI: Sundowns v Pirates

Orlando Pirates will be fighting to defend their Nedbank Cup trophy when they clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the final on Saturday afternoon.

Nedbank Cup Final

Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Orlando Pirates

Date: 01 June 2024

Venue: Mbombela Stadium

Time: 15h00

Pirates booked their spot in the final for the second consecutive season after thrashing Chippa United 3-1 in the semi-finals thanks to a brace by Kabelo Dlamini and another goal by Tapelo Xoki.

The Buccaneers, however, are winless in their last three matches, although a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in their last league game was enough to secure them a second spot on the table and earned CAF Champions League qualification.

The Soweto giants are aiming to complete a cup double this season after already winning the MTN8.

Sundowns, meanwhile, made it through to the final after edging Stellenbosch 2-1 in the semi-finals courtesy of goals by Khuliso Mudau and Thembinkosi Lorch.

The Brazilians almost finished the league season unbeaten but lost their first game in their last DStv Premiership outing after narrowly going down 1-0 to Cape Town City last weekend.

The Tshwane giants are bidding to complete a treble of trophies after winning the African Football League and the DStv Premiership titles.

The sides are meeting for the second time in a cup final this season after Pirates beat Sundowns on penalties in the MTN8 final following a goalless draw in extra-time.
