With Patrick Maswanganyi out for Bafana Bafana, head coach Hugo Broos has a big decision on who to play in the role of chief creator.
Themba Zwane has been key to how Bafana plays going forward, but his injury allowed Maswanganyi to step in and the Orlando Pirates midfielder showed that he was more than capable of getting the job done when he was given the opportunity in the latter stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Maswanganyi, however, is now out injured and Broos will need to decide who the playmaker in the team, just behind the strikers, is going to be. His options? Well, Percy Tau has the experience to play in the role while Relebohile Mofokeng is an option as well.
In goal, Ronwen Williams is expected to start, with Khuliso Mudau, Grant Kekana, Siyabonga Ngezana and Fawaaz Basadien likely to work as the back four.
Teboho Mokoena and Bathusi Aubass look set to start as the midfield pairing, with Jayden Adams and Thalente Mbatha likely to come off the bench.

Upfront, Broos could go with a front three of Oswin Appollis, Iqraam Rayners and Lyle Foster. The playmaker might be Tau with Mofokeng coming on later.
Bafana will take on Lesotho at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, before travelling to take on Benin in Ivory Coast next Tuesday.
