Ntwari Winning Chiefs’ No 1 Role

Ntwari Winning Chiefs’ No 1 Role

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari appears to be winning the team's number one role under the club's head coach Nasreddine Nabi, with applause coming his way for his contributions in the team.

Following doubts from some sections of supporters after he failed to keep a clean sheet in the three matches that he has played so far in Chiefs' impressive Betway Premiership campaign, the Rwandan international has been commended for improvement in his game.

The 25-year-old conceded four goals in three matches, before the most recent fixture.

This was against SuperSport United as Amakhosi won 4-0 in the Carling Knockout last weekend, Ntwari had one of the best matches in his PSL career to the satisfaction of Nabi and his technical team, according to a Siya source close to the club.

"Look, it is normal for a player to first adjust in a new environment in the initial stages, especially at a big club like Chiefs, and that's what the boy has been working on. He is a good player, trust me, otherwise he wouldn't have been signed by Chiefs. One thing about him is that he is a hard worker who puts in a lot of effort in training to improve his game," said the source.

"He is not under threat (for his position) or anything, and like any other player and in any club, he is in competition with other goalkeepers and at the moment he is the one who is playing and that's unlikely to change anytime soon as far as I understand. He's got the support of the coach and the rest of the technical team, and his teammates, and you can expect improvement in his performances going forward," the source added.

Bruce Bvuma has appeared to be Chiefs' number two in these early stages of the season, with Brandon Petersen who recently recovered from a broken finger, behind him.
