Reports suggest that Sony is set to close the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation Vita digital stores in a few months.
According to TheGamer, who has a source close to the situation, Sony will shut the doors to their PS3 and PSP digital stores in July. The PS Vita will then see its digital store close toward the end of August.
Those who have used desktop and mobile versions of the PlayStation Store may have seen those consoles drop off after October's redesign, however, the change mentioned means that there will be no store access for games on these consoles directly from the device.
This would also mean that DLC content for PS3 games would also not be available to purchase. There is also no clarity on what this would mean for games that were purchased digitally on those consoles prior to the closure of the store.
An official announcement is expected to be made by Sony at the end of March.
