In recent years, FIFA Ultimate Team and online play with friends has grown in popularity, but players remain locked to their platform of choice for the most part.
With gamers playing FIFA on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, there is a constant call for the ability to enjoy cross-play, and although some titles have managed to get it right recently, EA has confirmed that they have not had any changes on their side.
With FIFA 21 coming out on 9 October 2020, as it stands you will still be locked into playing online with players who have the same console as you do.
"Allowing our players to play against each other on whichever platform they play EA SPORTS FIFA is a long-term goal of ours. At this moment we don't have any news, but we're continuing to investigate its integration and will share any updates when we have them," EA stated on their official site.
It remains to be seen whether this issue can be resolved ahead of the launch of FIFA 21 on next-generation consoles, with the release date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X version still to be confirmed.
