Following his move to Swedish Third Division side FC Trollhattan, the Siya crew understands that Wayde Lekay has a number of options in Europe.
The striker was without a club for a few months following his exit from Cape Town City, where he scored two goals and laid one assist in 21 matches. He then spent time training with struggling Cape Town Spurs, before venturing to Europe, where he trained with Stuart Baxter's relegation-threatened Helsingborgs.
Indications from Siya sources are that the 26-year-old did enough to convince the club to hand him a contract. However, complications with his paperwork and visa scuppered the move. The lanky forward subsequently landed on his feet at FC Trollhattan, signing a one-and-a-half-year deal with them.
This publication understands that a return to Helsingborgs could be on the cards for Lekay, who could potentially link up with former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander, at the end of the season. Interestingly, the striker also did have a trial stint with Amakhosi last season, although nothing came of it in the end.
There are one or two clubs in Sweden also monitoring the player, the Siya crew understands.
