Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to have initiated discussions with a left-back, the Siya crew has been informed.
Even though the specifics of the negotiations with Terrence Mashego are still under wraps, insiders at the club and close to Mashego have indicated that the team is considering extending his stay by an additional two years.

The Siya sources added that despite Mashego's limited game time, the club holds him in high regard, which is why they are believed to be eager to retain him for at least another two years.
"They are actually discussing his future. At the moment we can't say whether it's for a set contract extension or what because the talks have just opened up. They have just started the discussions and it's too early to determine the outcome of the whole talks. But the talks on Mashego's future have started," said the Siya source.
"I guess we can say it's a good sign because he still has a full year and some months on his contract so when talks like this begin you have to be positive," the source added.
However, a second insider pointed out that Mashego faces significant competition for his position, with Aubrey Modiba, Asekho Tiwani, and Divine Lunga all contending for the same spot in the team.
"That's the only tricky part at the moment. Whether they would keep him, considering the players they have in that position or if they would want him to fight and see if he gets the chance. But the talks are what comes out with the proper results of everything and now that the talks have started then we will see what will happen. There is still time for both parties to make a final decision," the second insider stated.

Formerly with Cape Town City, Mashego is looking for more game time, after featuring in a fair amount of fixtures for the reigning league champions last season. He will want to play more games going forward.
Due to his limited playing time at the Brazilians, he had lost his spot in the Bafana Bafana squad.
As negotiations unfold, both Sundowns and Mashego must weigh their options carefully. The discussions not only signal the club's ongoing faith in Mashego's abilities but also highlight the competitive nature of his position. The outcome of these talks will be crucial for Mashego's future at the club and his prospects of reclaiming a place in the South Africa national team.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
