Hlongwane, who joined the Loons from Maritzburg United in 2022, finished as the club's top scorer in 2024 with 11 goals and four assists in 32 appearances.
His impressive tally is even more remarkable considering he was shifted to a right wingback role, away from his preferred striker position.
Despite the positional change, Hlongwane continued to be a key contributor to the team's attack and will remain a central figure in Minnesota's plans moving forward.
It remains to be seen whether Hlongwane can regain his place in Hugo Broos' South African national team, having fallen down the pecking order at Bafana Bafana in recent times, though he could be the country's long-term solution to its goalscoring endeavors.
