SuperSport United are confident that Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu will see out his contract at the club, despite a lack of game time in the second half of the season.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns defender will have one more season left on his contract when the current campaign comes to an end, giving him an opportunity to fight for his place in the team.
The 32-year-old, who was at the Africa Cup of Nations with the national team earlier this year, made just three appearances in all competitions for Matsatsantsa in 2024, with head coach Gavin Hunt preferring to play youngsters such as Ime Okon and Bilal Baloyi in central defence.
Xulu has featured mostly from the bench this season, with 13 of his 16 appearances coming in the first half of the campaign. SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews told this publication that they want to keep Xulu.
The Siya crew understands he is one of the highest paid players at the club and, despite his lack of game time, the club is happy to keep him for another campaign.
"Siyanda's contract has a year still to run, so the plan is for him to stay," Matthews said in a brief response to the Siya crew.
