Former SuperSport United defender Siyabonga Nhlapo has penned a deal with Chippa United until the end of the season and the Siya crew has been given more information on the deal.
The defender had been without a club for a few months after his six-year stay at Matsatsantsa was brought to an end in June, but after waiting it out a bit, he has finally secured a team where he can still play in the topflight.
This publication understands that there is an option to extend the deal at the end of the campaign, depending on how things go in terms of game-time and general performance.
Nhlapo is a versatile player who gives the Chilli Boys' technical team the option of playing him in different positions. The 34-year-old plays at right back, in central defence and in the middle of the park. His experience will certainly give the Gqeberha-based side the boost they need this season as they look to stay away from the relegation zone.
The former Bidvest Wits man is yet to make an appearance for the team since putting pen to paper, but it's understood he could make his debut after the FIFA international break, with Chippa set to face struggling Cape Town Spurs away from home.
