Indications are that Sekhukhune United have made an about-turn on their decision to sign Orlando Pirates development product Yanga Baliso. The player recently returned to the country following a four-year spell in Finland, where he turned out for clubs such as Pargas IF, IFK Mariehamn and AC Oulu.
He made the move abroad after parting ways with the Buccaneers, having played in the club's reserve team in 2019. The Siya crew has it on good authority that the 26-year-old had attracted interest from a number of clubs in the DStv Premiership, with that of Babina Noko being the strongest.
Indications were that the Capeborn midfielder was set to pen a deal with Sekhukhune. However, the club appear to have made a U-turn on the initial decision. This publication understands that the decision was halted due to the uncertainty regarding the situation of the side's head coach Brandon Truter, who, according to Siya sources, has since parted ways with the club.
It remains to be seen whether Sekhukhune revisit their interest in Baliso, who is eligible to sign for a team of his choice even outside of the transfer window period given his status as a free agent.
