The Siya Crew has been led to believe that Promise Mkhuma might have to wait a little longer to get an opportunity to compete for a first team spot at Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Sundowns youth product is currently on loan to Motsepe Foundation Championship side, University of Pretoria, having spent the second half of last season at All Stars.
With Sundowns set to add more players to the squad for next season, AmaTuks could, in fact, look at keeping the left-footed midfielder beyond the expiration of his loan deal, especially if they win promotion.
Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena recently told media why the club has not released the 23-year-old.
"Very good player and one we have not released because we still think he's got potential and has the quality to represent Sundowns in the future," Mokwena said, before their Nedbank Cup clash against AmaTuks.
"Hopefully he can bounce back. No youth career, no career in fact is linear. There are ups and downs and life is also like that. That's the same for Promise and that's the same for all the youngsters. They need to be coachable and have this bounce back ability."
With age still on his side, Mkhuma will be hoping to get an opportunity to prove himself in the colours of Sundowns.
