The Siya crew has learnt that Moroka Swallows are set to take up the option on the contract of key defender Keegan Allan. The player joined the Birds' nest in July last year, after turning down a five-year contract offer from Mamelodi Sundowns.
He was also linked with a move to Serie A at the time. The 23-year-old had been on the books of University of Pretoria when he was snapped up by the Dobsonville-based outfit. He has been vital for the side over the last two seasons, and was integral to them maintain their top-flight status last campaign.
The burly defender will be entering into the last year of his deal with the Steve Komphela-led team, which expires in June 2024. However, according to Siya sources, Swallows are keen on holding onto the player and are set to exercise the one-year option on his contract.
"Keegan has an option on his contract. It is up to the team to exercise the option, but it is still early days to be negotiating for the option. The club sees his value and know how important it is to have him settled," a source told the Siya crew.
Allan has made eight appearances in all competitions this season and forms a key part of Komphela's plans.
