Insiders close to both the player and Sundowns have indicated that Esperance are believed to have inquired about the Nigerian forward.
According to Siya sources, Esperance are one of two North African clubs expressing interest in the striker, who was unable to settle down at Masandawana since joining the team in 2021. Despite performing well on loan at SuperSport United, he was unable to win his way into the Sundowns team.
"There have been several clubs who have been interested in Ighodaro before but for now it's Esperance of Tunisia who have enquired about the player. Yes, there are other teams both in North Africa and Europe, but as I have said, Esperance have enquired about him. So that is what the talk is about now," the insider told the Siya crew.
Meanwhile, a second Siya source stated that AmaZulu are also keen on retaining the striker once his one-year loan expires at the end of the season.

"Sundowns will be the ones making the final decision because apart from Esperance being interested in Ighodaro, AmaZulu are also interested and willing to keep him. So, it will all depend on which offer Sundowns agree to. But the interest is there in Ighodaro," the second source revealed.
Ighodaro joined Sundowns in 2021 on a five-year contract, expected to last until June 2026. However, he has repeatedly spent this period on loan, starting with Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria, followed by Chippa United and he has scored goals on his travels around South Africa. This season at AmaZulu, he has not scored as many goals as he did at SuperSport but he will be looking to kick on for the rest of 2025.
Soccer Laduma reached out to AmaZulu for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this story.
