Kaizer Chiefs are set to receive competition from Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in the race for a midfielder, according to insiders privy to information.
Soccer Laduma had previously reported how Chiefs were eyeing Stellenbosch FC player Nhlanhla Mgaga.

"There is growing interest in Nhlanhla (Mgaga). I can tell you that now two teams from Gauteng have joined in the race to sign him. For now, both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have shown interest in the midfielder," said the Siya source.
"Initially it was Kaizer Chiefs who made the inquiry about him but now these two teams have joined the race and it will be difficult to say who exactly would get him at the end of the day.
"He has done very well since joining the club so no wonder there is interest from the so called big teams from Gauteng. Both Sundowns and Pirates are interested in other Stellenbosch FC players apart from Mgaga and it will be interesting to see what the club (Stellies) will do as they don't want to lose other players at the end of the season," the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second Siya source stated that Stellenbosch FC won't let their enterprising midfielder just leave the club easily.
"Even though there is interest from Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando and competition between other Gauteng teams, Stellenbosch are not willing to release or sell the player. They say they just got him last season and they have seen his contribution and there is no reason whatsoever for them to just let him go like that.
"Actually this season they want to keep almost all of their top players as they are preparing to play in Africa, in either the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup depending on where they finish the season in the league. Letting players go won't be easy," the source observed.
28-year-old Mgaga had joined Stellies from Baroka FC at the start of 2022/23 season and has so far featured in 19 DStv Premiership league games in this campaign. He has also participated in 10 cup matches and his current contract runs until June 30, 2025.
When contacted, Stellenbosch FC chose not to comment on this story.
Soccer Laduma also contacted Pirates and Sundowns but both these clubs have not responded by the time this story was published.
