With his contract set to expire in June 2025, Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to have altered their decision regarding the future of experienced goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse, the Siya crew has been informed.
Insiders at the Brazilians have indicated that management is leaning toward not extending Pieterse's contract in future, given the depth of capable goalkeepers already within the department.

The sources added that Sundowns hold a two-year option on Pieterse's contract, but the question is whether they will exercise it.
"The club is the one believed to be making a decision because they have a two-year option on his contract which is expiring in June 2025. They have looked at the possibilities of renewal but it doesn't look like they will renew his contract. Because they have a two-year option they have to take that decision as soon as they can. But it doesn't seem that they will exercise it at the moment and that would mean he would leave at the end of the season," the Siya source believes.
A second insider explained that Sundowns are keen to provide opportunities for younger goalkeepers such as Jody February, Sanele Tshabalala, and Ricardo Goss who is currently on loan at SuperSport United, as well as talents from the DDC team.

"With Ronwen Williams being their first choice and still having Denis Onyango in the squad, the club is looking at giving the other younger goalkeepers a chance for more game time. Of course there will be understudies to Ronwen (Williams) but at least the competition will be with just the three of them and that is what is believed to be the plan by the club to let Pieterse go," the second insider stated.
Joining Sundowns from SuperSport United in 2018, Pieterse, now 32, has not made many league appearances over his six-year stint. This season, he has yet to feature in any matches for the club.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
