Siya sources close to both the club and the player have indicated that Sundowns have officially proposed a three-year contract extension to Mokoena, signaling their intent to retain his services.

The sources added that negotiations between the Brazilians and Mokoena's representatives are progressing well, although a final agreement has yet to be reached.
"At the moment we can't say it's a 100% done deal because the talks are still going on. But the three years which are on an improved contract are what the club has put on the table now. But you know contract talks don't just finish in a day," said the Siya source.
"There are things which both parties involved have to consider and that's why the talks could take a bit longer. But there is no deadlock at the moment as talks are still going on. But if he signs the three years it means he will stay at the team until June 2028 at least because the current contract only ends next year in June," the source observed.
Masandawana are understood to be assessing the value and terms of Mokoena's potential new deal, according to a second Siya source. The midfielder's stock has risen significantly following his performances, making him a valuable asset not easily attainable by "smaller" European clubs.
"You know after Afcon his value has gone up and some small European countries can not afford him and that's why if he doesn't go to England or other top leagues then he would rather stay at Sundowns and that's why the new three-year deal makes sense," said the second Siya source.
"And we know Sundowns won't let him just go like that and with the new three-year improved contract it will even be more difficult for smaller teams to get him. The good thing is that Sundowns and the player's representatives are talking and it looks positive right now," the source added.
Mokoena, last year's PSL Player of the Season, has attracted attention from notable clubs, including being linked with Bournemouth FC of England, French side Monaco SC, and African giants Al Ahly.
Despite an injury-affected season, Mokoena has managed to make 15 PSL appearances, scoring three goals, nine appearances in the Caf Champions League, five in the African Football League and five in other South African domestic cups.
His potential contract extension with Sundowns would not only affirm his importance to the team but also reflect the club's ambition to continue competing at the highest level, both domestically and in Africa.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns and the club chose not to comment on this story.
