Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga is hoping to get some game-time and that could come in the form of a move in the January transfer window.
The player remains a key part of the Zimbabwean national team and this was evident in how he was called up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Nigeria respectively, this despite not making a single appearance at club level so far this season.
Lunga came on in the final seven minutes of the Warriors' clash against the Super Eagles last Sunday, which they went on to draw 1-1, having played the entire 90 minutes in a goalless draw away to Rwanda last Wednesday.
The 28-year-old was on loan to Golden Arrows last season, playing regularly during his time with the KZN outfit. In total, during the 2022/23 campaign, Lunga made 30 appearances in all competitions and there was talk of him staying with the side, but he ended up going back to Chloorkop.
Indications are that the lanky player is open to making a move during the January transfer window so that he can get game-time and keep his place in the national team. A return to Abafana Bes'thende remains a possibility, with the club valuing his experience and ability to play at left back or on the left side of central defence.
The former Chicken Inn man will certainly be itching for more minutes on the pitch after tasting some action during the FIFA international break, more especially with Zimbabwe not having qualified for next year's Afcon.
