As Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango heads towards the end of his playing career, it's understood that the club has already been looking into a role he could play at Chloorkop once he hangs up his gloves.
It's unclear at this stage when Onyango will call time on his playing career, but the 38-year-old's current deal with the DStv Premiership champions is set to expire in June, with the possibility of a retirement announcement.
Whether or not he retires at the end of the season, the Siya crew has been informed that the club is looking into giving him a role, to use his expertise as a goalkeeper within the club, while there is also an opportunity to play as one of the ambassadors, where he would join the likes of Tiyani Mabunda, Teko Modise and Hlompho Kekana.
Onyango, who turns 39 in May, is valued at the club and discussions on the role he will fill will continue, though the club is currently focused on ending the season with three more trophies in the cabinet, as they are currently competing for the DStv Premiership, CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup.
The former SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits goalkeeper, considered a Sundowns icon, has made six appearances in all competitions this season for the Tshwane giants, keeping four clean sheets.
