Word reaching the Siya crew is that veteran striker Lehlohonolo Majoro remains open to signing for a club in the DStv Premiership to help him reach a milestone 100 goals in top flight football.
The ex-Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City forward parted ways with AmaZulu FC at the end of last season having fallen out of favour with then coach Romain Folz, only to later be brought back by Ayanda Dlamini.
Dlamini had been appointed interim coach by the club hierarchy with Folz redeployed to technical director, a position he later resigned from.
Majoro turned 37 last Saturday and is currently a free agent – it's understood he is yet to hang up his boots in pursuit of one final contract.
At the height of his career, Majoro was a lethal striker, first for Usuthu, before securing a move to Chiefs and then later Pirates. It's his form at these clubs that also earned him Bafana Bafana call-ups, making 10 appearances and scoring two goals.
'Major', as he is affectionately known, is just nine more goals away from being part of the exclusive club of players who have bagged a century in the Premier Soccer League elite level.
This list includes Daniel Mudau, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Mabhudi Khenyeza, Collins Mbesuma, Tico- Tico Bucuane and, most recently, Bradley Grobler, the only active player with 100 goals as things stand.
With his status as a free agent, the Ladybrand-born marksman is not restricted by the transfer window deadline next month and can join any suitor with immediate effect.
