Veldwijk Transfer Update: What Downs Need To Do

Veldwijk Transfer Update: What Downs Need To Do

Mamelodi Sundowns have a few challenges to surpass before signing a former Bafana Bafana striker, the Siya crew has been informed.

The Brazilians have been linked with former Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk and Siya sources have now indicated what conditions need to be met for the signing to be completed.

The sources close to the club and the player have revealed that Sundowns may want the striker for just a short term but the player's representatives want at least a two-year contract.

The Brazilians could even be looking at a six-month contract which would run until the end of the season but Veldwijk's representatives believe that's too short a period.

"The team has offered the striker a short term deal but the players side wants at least a two-year deal. They are looking at his age and to secure his future at least to be safe. So the talks haven't yet concluded because they are looking at the length of the contract," said the Siya source.

"The club is thinking of six months and that's what they have offered him but at the moment they haven't finalised everything yet," the source said.

A second Siya source added that Sundowns may want a striker who can help them immediately and that the club can relook at the deal toward the end of the season.

"For now it could be for six months or so but at the end of the season they are set to look at the deal again depending on how the striker could have performed during the initial deal.

"And that's why now they are looking at the length of the contract and it's what is delaying the conclusion of the talks but it's about to happen," the source concluded.

Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns on the story and the club decided not to comment on the potential transfer.
