Keagan Dolly's future as a Kaizer Chiefs player has come under question as the midfielder's contract nears its end, and now the Siya crew has been informed that the club could take the same approach to his deal as to that of Khama Billiat.
Dolly joined the Glamour Boys as a free agent in 2021 from French Ligue 1 side Montpellier. At the time the Siya crew reported that the 31-year-old had signed a three-year contract, which includes an option to extend for two more years.
Those three years have since passed and now Chiefs have the final say on whether or not they want to exercise the option that would keep the attacker at Naturena beyond the 2023/24 season.
Well-placed Siya sources have informed the crew that Chiefs are keen to hold onto Dolly; however, for them to do so, it would be at a lower salary than the package he was on when he first arrived.
Chiefs offered a similar deal to Billiat in July last year – but the Zimbabwean turned down Amakhosi's offer. Dolly is believed to be amongst the club's top earners, though they haven't yielded a return on investment as injury continues to plague his time at Naturena.
It now remains to be seen if the two parties manage to come to an agreement when the player's deal comes to an end in June 2024.
