Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have made the final decision on one of their out-of-favour midfielders, the Siya crew has been informed.
Soccer Laduma had previously reported how George Matlou may not be in coach Nasreddine Nabi's plans in terms of using him in the first team.

With his contract coming to an end in June 2025, Siya sources very close to the club have indicated that despite having a one-year option on his contract, his services may no longer be needed by the club.
"His contract was coming to an end in June this year and at that time he was injured. But despite that the club had given him another year with another one-year option. But, at that moment the club has decided that they won't renew his contract nor the one-year option when it comes to an end in June next year. So, for now, the club has made the decision that they won't keep him further as he is not in the coach's plans going forward," the Siya source stated.
A second insider stated that although Matlou has recovered from injury and started training, the club is still looking at signing a winger in January.

"They are poised on signing a new winger and that will be the one to replace George (Matlou who is a central midfielder that can play as an attacking midfielder)," said the second insider.
"If there are teams interested in him this coming January they could sign him. It won't be on loan anymore because by June 2025 his contract would be over so the team that would like to sign him, they would probably sign him permanently even if it's in January," the second insider observed.
Notably, attacking midfielders these days are more flexible in their positions on the field, as opposed to an old-fashioned "winger". The Siya crew has reported how Chiefs have been tracking forward players who normally operate out wide. As for Matlou, certain midfielders can be used in various positions, and Amakhosi are already quite stocked for central midfield players that can help the attackers further down the field.
The 26-year-old had joined Amakhosi from Swallows FC in 2022 and signed an initial two-year contract which expired in June this year. So far this season, he hasn't featured in any game due to an injury that he suffered last season.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing.
As Chiefs make their final decision on Matlou's future, the midfielder's departure could pave the way for new signings in the upcoming transfer window. Fans will be eager to see how the team adapts and who might come in to fill his position.
