With the end of the season nearing, the future of Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Gaston Sirino is up in the air.
According to information received by the Siya crew, a departure for the 33-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has not been ruled out, with Sundowns expected to go into the market again to bring in new faces to add to their already star-studded side.
Sirino was rumoured to be leaving Chloorkop during the first half of the season when he was not part of first team training, but he made a return for the side in the Carling Knockout clash against TS Galaxy and was able to start playing a bit more after scoring a goal which sent the game into extra time.
But things have not quite been the same for Sirino in 2024, with the player struggling to break into the team recently, despite not being reported as injured by the Tshwane giants.
Before Wednesday's match against Golden Arrows, he has missed five consecutive league games for the club, with competition increasing in the team following the arrivals of Thembinkosi Lorch and Tashreeq Matthews during the January transfer window.
Indications are that Sundowns could part ways with the attacking star, and it's believed that he would also be open to leaving, with a possibility of returning to South America to end his career there.
In total, Sirino has made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and contributing with two assists.
