Having started the 2023/24 season like a house on fire, newly-promoted Polokwane City are understood to be closing in on the signing of Ndumiso Mabena, who is currently out of contract.
According to Siya sources, Rise and Shine are in talks with the veteran striker to become the latest player to join the side, with a deal now imminent. The former Platinum Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal AM star was amongst the players released from Orlando Pirates at the end of last season, with his second spell at the Buccaneers failing to get off the ground in terms of minutes on the pitch.
But with the well-travelled player having spent the last few weeks training with the topflight returnees, he has now emerged as a potential new addition for the outfit that currently sits in 10th place on the DStv Premiership standings with two wins from their opening six games.
Mabena can join the club immediately given that he is unattached after he was handed his clearance by the Soweto giants upon the two parties' parting of ways. The 36-year-old, now in the twilight of his career, will be hoping to contribute to Rise and Shine's quest to remain in the top tier of South African football this season and add much-needed experience to the side coached by Lehlohonolo Seema, whom he worked with at Phunya Sele Sele.
