Khuse Hopeful Of Chiefs’ First Team Involvement

Donald 'Ace' Khuse is hoping for a chance in the first team at Kaizer Chiefs to prove his worth again in whatever capacity the club may feel is suitable for him as changes are expected to take place at the Soweto giants.

Chiefs are going to their next game this weekend sitting in a precautious 10th place on the DStv Premiership log, having won only once since the league's resumption after the Africa Cup of Nations break earlier this year.

It has already been confirmed by the Amakhosi hierarchy that interim coach Cavin Johnson won't be retained in his position as the club's head coach. Chiefs have had Johnson in charge on an interim basis since October following the departure of Molefi Ntseki who started the season as the club's head coach.

Under Johnson, Chiefs looked to have had a promising start but recent results have been disappointing for the team, with their 1-0 loss to struggling Richards Bay FC last weekend further rubbing salt into the wounds of those associated with the club.

According to sources, Khuse feels he can do the job if it can be offered to him to try and get the club back at the top and to challenge for trophies.

Khuse previously occupied the hotseat at Chiefs as a co-caretaker coach alongside Doctor Khumalo back in 2002.

Having taken over with the team on four points after five games then, the duo led Amakhosi to 13 wins, seven draws and five losses in their 25 games in charge.

In recent times, Khuse has been working as an academy scout.

"One thing about Ace Khuse is that he is very passionate about Chiefs and will do anything required of him to assist whenever possible. Chiefs' situation is worrying for a club of their magnitude, and it needs all hands on deck to change. Imagine if the club had Ace when Arthur Zwane was the head coach and the difference that it could have made," said a source.

"Having said that, Ace is ready to help in the first team before it is too late. Ace Khuse knows the club in and out and his involvement in the first team could be of high importance," the source added.
