Chiefs Star's Future Uncertain Under Nabi

Chiefs Star's Future Uncertain Under Nabi

Despite having arrived at Amakhosi only one year ago, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe's future at Kaizer Chiefs is uncertain under the club's new coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Ditlhokwe's move to Chiefs from SuperSport United on a free transfer last season was heralded as a step in the right direction for Chiefs. Early indications were that the Botswana international was the right fit for Amakhosi, though injury derailed his progress in the last campaign.

With Chiefs bringing in a new technical team, it was an opportunity for Ditlhokwe and his teammates to make an impression ahead of the new season, something the 25-year-old has failed to do so far, according to insiders.

That Chiefs have roped in not one - but two centre backs so far has cast further doubts on whether Ditlhokwe does form part of the plans for the Glamour Boys this season.

Chiefs recently announced the capture of Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs, while the club are closing in on Inacio Miguel from Petro De Luanda meaning we could see a completely new centre-back pairing for Amakhosi this season.

It may not be all doom and gloom for Ditlhokwe though as Edmilson Dove recently suffered an Achilles injury, which is set to sideline him for a few months, meaning that the lanky star could be kept as back-up to Nabi's preferred centre-backs. This could then be an opportunity for him to prove himself as a starter for the first team.
