Mamelodi Sundowns Sporting Director Flemming Berg is believed to be working tirelessly to strengthen ties with the European market – and this could open doors for the Brazilians to do business abroad.
The Danish veteran administrator arrived at Chloorkop in April last year to take up a role that has been difficult to fill over a long period at the club, but with his track record, it was expected he would have some success.
Berg previously worked at English Premier League side Chelsea as an international scout and then later as talent manager for his native Denmark Football Association, where he helped launch the Golden Generation.
For him to accept the Downs job in 2022 was a new market he was willing to explore and excel in while adjusting to the landscape. After he was announced by chairman Tlhopane Motsepe in front of the press, Berg said his biggest task was to make everyone reach their best potential.
Soccer Laduma has been informed that Berg has made frequent trips to Europe this year alone to strengthen relations. The Chloorkop-based outfit took their pre-season tour to Netherlands in June, where they played friendly matches against top sides from Holland and Belgium, a trip that is said to have been organised through Berg's contacts.
The Siya crew has also reported that defender Khuliso Mudau has attracted interest from Burnley and other teams abroad – this could be part of the Sporting Director's work behind the scenes.
