Kaizer Chiefs are not only in the market for a new coach, but the Siya crew understands that they are looking into the possibility of securing Iqraam Rayners to boost their strike force.
The burly forward was linked with the club in the last transfer window after he had a fantastic second half of the season with Stellenbosch FC last term, and it now appears the Naturena-based outfit are prepared to make a move for the player, though a deal is unlikely to happen during the January transfer window.
Indications are that Amakhosi are prepared to talk to Stellies over the possibility of signing the striker, as they see him as a player who can add value to their attack. The Soweto giants are currently struggling in the final third of the pitch, with their new strikers, Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzalez, not doing much to provide the boost they needs in terms of goals.
Management is looking out for new possibilities and Rayners is one of the players they are believed to be interested in, as previously reported by Soccer Laduma.
The 27-year-old is currently on four goals in all competitions this season. He had a slow start to the campaign, but appears to have found his rhythm again.
Chiefs, it's understood, believe Rayners still has some good years ahead of him and will make an effort to bring him board, though he will not come cheap.
The Steve Barker-led outfit, as well, would also need to be willing to part ways with the most dangerous weapon in their arsenal.
