Rulani Mokwena's imminent exit from Wydad Athletic is becoming one of football’s worst kept secrets — but the manner in which it was executed has raised eyebrows.
While no official announcement has been made by the club, images of new head coach Amine Benhachem leading training sessions have already surfaced, confirming what many had already suspected: Mokwena is no longer in charge.
According to Moroccan journalist Adel Al-Amari on his show The Truth in 90 Minutes, Mokwena's exit was engineered behind closed doors to avoid public fallout.
Instead of a formal dismissal, Mokwena allegedly presented a medical certificate — reportedly agreed upon by both parties — to serve as a soft landing for what is effectively a sacking.
"Rulani Mokwena submitted a medical certificate to avoid being dismissed, and this was agreed upon," said Al-Amari. The move appears to have been a calculated compromise, allowing Wydad to part ways with the coach without the legal or reputational complexities of a straightforward contract termination," as per Radio Mars.

Despite the whispers and now visible change on the training ground, neither the club nor Mokwena has released a statement to officially confirm the departure, leaving fans and media in limbo.
The silence has only intensified speculation, especially given that Mokwena had signed a contract intended to run until 2027, and was viewed as a long-term project for the Casablanca giants.
His tenure lasted just under eight months, failing to yield silverware and culminating in a frustrating end to the season for Wydad, who are currently out of the title race and without a domestic or continental trophy.
Still, the clouded nature of his departure adds a layer of intrigue to what was already a disappointing campaign.
