Pirates’ Dzvukamanja Decision Finalised?

Pirates’ Dzvukamanja Decision Finalised?

Orlando Pirates appear to have made their decision on the future of striker Terrence Dzvukamanja, who has been one of the players whose contracts were coming to an end. Having joined the Houghton-based side from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in 2020, the lanky marksman's original three-year deal would have expired at the end of June.

Initially, he had been expected to leave the club after he struggled with form when he first arrived, but after managing to turn around his season in the second half of 2022/23, his fortunes changed. The Zimbabwean featured in 13 matches in the league in the second half of the campaign, scoring seven goals and adding two assists.

The 29-year-old's form saw his relationship with the team's fans improve noticeably after they initially put him under pressure, even booing him in some instances. With the Buccaneers having a one-year option on the player's contract, the club has decided to exercise the option to keep him in coach Jose Riveiro's team for the new season, as confirmed by sources, as the club will also be competing in the CAF Champions League.

"Pirates have taken their option on Terrence Dzvukamanja's contract. The club had a one-year option and it has since been exercised. The club is happy with the player's contribution and there's a possibility of him signing a new contract as well," revealed a source.
