New Signing Boost, How Pirates Could Line Up

New Signing Boost, How Pirates Could Line Up

Having last played Cape Town City in the MTN8 in 2020, Orlando Pirates will hope for a favourable result this time, to boost their chances of advancing to the final despite the unfavourable weather conditions in the Mother City.

Pirates won that match 1-0 through a Terrence Dzvukamanja goal to advance to the semi-finals and ended up winning the competition.

After this week's match was initially scheduled for Tuesday at the DHL Stadium, the powers-that-be had to postpone the fixture for Wednesday due to adverse weather conditions in Cape Town.

The postponement now means that there will only be two days between the first and second leg fixtures as opposed to the initially planned three.

While Pirates coach Jose Riveiro could be tempted to rotate his players due to the team's hectic schedule in the MTN8 and CAF Champions League respectively, indications are that there will be no major changes to the line-up.

The match in the Cape comes five days after the Buccaneers' impressive 4-0 win in the CAF Champions League against Disciples of Madagascar.

The Soweto giants defeated SuperSport United in the quarter-finals of this year's MTN8 as they look to win the trophy for the third time in a row.

However, Riveiro and his team know it won't be easy against Eric Tinkler's side who have reinforced considerably in the transfer window with quality and experienced players.

Pirates XI: Sipho Chaine, Thabiso Sesane, Olisa Ndah, Thabiso Monyane, Deon Hotto, Thalente Mbatha, Miguel Timm, Monnapule Saleng, Patrick Maswanganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshegofatso Mabasa.
