Orlando Pirates Could Be Affected By Latest FIFA Loan Rules

Orlando Pirates Could Be Affected By Latest FIFA Loan Rules

Orlando Pirates, like the rest of the clubs in the league and under the auspices of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), could be forced to make changes in how the club does business in the transfer market.

As reported by the Siya crew, FIFA have announced changes on the loaning of players from club to club, which will take effect from 2024.

As confirmed by the world football governing body, clubs will be required send a maximum of six players on loan per season once the new laws have been implemented.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed by FIFA that clubs can also have up to six players join from elsewhere on loan per season.

With regards to the Buccaneers, who have no less than seven players on loan this season, the new rules could affect the club's dealings in the transfer window.

Pirates are known to regularly send players on loan to get regular game-time to fast forward the readiness of players for when they would be required to do duty for the club in the DStv Premiership.

So far in the 2021/22 season, Bucs have sent eight players on loan, and they are Sandile Mthethwa (Chippa United), Mthokozisi Dube (Golden Arrows), Thabiso Sesane (Jomo Cosmos), Justice Chabalala (Sekhukhune United), Azola Tshobeni (JDR Stars), Monnapule Saleng (Swallows FC), Austin Muwowo (Swallows FC) and Simo Bophela (Venda Football Academy).
