Former Bucs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo tells Soccer Laduma that competition in the department will make a big difference for the team's ambitions this season, particularly for the PSL title.
"Pirates will do very well this season. And you know why? Because they have very healthy competition amongst their goalkeepers," Khuzwayo told Soccer Laduma.
"If you look at the four of them, no matter who plays on the day is a top goalkeeper. The defence of any team starts with the goalkeepers and if you have quality goalkeepers like Pirates have this season, then half your job of winning matches is done.
"Look at Mamelodi Sundowns. That has been their strength throughout their victories. You remember Itu (Itumeleng Khune) at his peak at Kaizer Chiefs? How many trophies did he win them?
"Many. So, yeah, the Pirates goalkeeping department will be the difference this season," Khuzwayo said.
The KwaZulu-Natal born retired goalkeeper added that the other advantage of Pirates is the well-balanced squad they have this season.
"This is the Orlando Pirates you would want to see every day in and out. They have a well-balanced team and there is depth there, so much so that even the ones on the bench or not in the squad on the day, are just as good as the ones playing at that time.
"That's very good for a team to have to compete for silverware. And I know they will do that," Khuzwayo told Soccer Laduma.
