Durban City Finish 2024 On Top, CT Spurs In Relegation Battle

Sunday, 15 December

University of Pretoria 1-0 Leruma United

University of Pretoria returned to winning ways after edging Leruma United 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at ABSA Tuks Stadium.

Khomotso Marebane scored the only goal of the encounter early in the game as AmaTuks moved up to ninth on the table.

Leruma were left stuck second-from-bottom.

Orbit College 0-0 JDR Stars

JDR Stars' three-game winning run came to an end after a goalless draw against Orbit College on Sunday afternoon at Olympia Park Stadium.

The Hammerboys, however, remain in second spot on the table, two points off leaders Durban City and Orbit also retained their third position, one point behind the Tshwane side.

Saturday, 14 December

Milford 1-2 Durban City

Durban City returned to the top of the standings after edging Milford 2-1 in the KwaZulu-Natal derby on Saturday afternoon at Chatsworth Stadium.

Joslin Kamatuka gave City an early lead  and Nqaba Xulu levelled matters for Milford just before the interval.

Sinamandla Zondi snatched the winner for The Team of Choice in the dying minutes.

Simo Dladla's charges opened a two-point lead at the top of the log while The Stallions dropped down to fourth, four points behind.

Baroka 4-2 Black Leopards

Black Leopards won their third game in a row after thrashing Black Leopards 4-2 in the Limpopo derby on Saturday afternoon at Global Stadium.

David Mothipi gave Baroka the lead with 20 minutes on the clock and Nkosephayo Mavundla equalised for Leopards ten minutes before the break.

Mothipi restored the lead for Bakgaga on the stroke of half-time and completed his brace.

Kagiso Selemela made it 3-1 and quickly 4-2 as he also grabbed his brace early in the second stanza for Baroka.

Mwape Musonda scored a second consolation goal for Lidoda Duvha in added time.

The win took Bakgaga up to fifth on the log while Leopards slipped down to eighth.

Casric Stars 2-2 Kruger United

Casric Stars missed the chance to win three games in a row after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Kruger United on Saturday afternoon at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Thapelo Matlhoko opened the scoring for Kruger early in the game and former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Lesako quickly levelled matters for Casric.

Teboho Lekhatla sent Stars ahead seven minutes before the break but Dingaan Maphosa restored parity for United in first-half stoppages.

Casric and Kruger were left lying sixth and seventh on the table respectively.

Venda Football Academy 1-2 Highbury

Highbury won back-to-back matches after edging Venda Football Academy 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Thohoyandou Stadium.

D'Angelo Shaheed Kazeem gave Venda an early lead but Highbury equalised midway through the first stanza.

The visitors got the winner nine minutes before time.

The Eastern Cape outfit climbed up to 11th on the log and Venda remained at the bottom of the standings.

Friday, 13 December

Pretoria Callies 2-1 Cape Town Spurs

Cape Town Spurs' winless run stretched to ten games after a 2-1 defeat to Pretoria Callies on Friday afternoon at TUT Stadium.

Nicholas Motloung broke the deadlock for Callies midway through the first stanza and Sibambalipha Khumalo doubled their lead three minutes later.

Spurs pulled a goal back seven minutes before the interval.

The Urban Warriors remained in lowly 14th spot on the log, equal on ten points with 15th-placed Leruma United and a win for the Romans moved them up to 13th.

Hungry Lions 1-1 Upington City

Returning coach Brandon Truter started off his second spell at the club with a 1-1 draw against Hungry Lions in the Noord-Kaap derby on Friday afternoon at Suzuki Stadium.

Tlotlo Leepile broke the deadlock for Upington just before the half-hour mark but Ronaldo Van Neel equalised for Hungry Lions early in the second stanza.

Bafana Ba Gucci are placed 12th on the log, two points behind tenth-placed Ditau.
