DStv Premiership
Halftime: Marumo Gallants 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs
Date: 11 September 2022
Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium
Chiefs made only one change from the draw against AmaZulu, as Keagan Dolly took the place of Khama Billiat who sustained a knee injury.
The game took time to get going but Amakhosi had the first opening on ten minutes after Kgaogelo Sekgota raced clear on goal and fired his strike well wide with only shot-stopper Ismail Watenga to beat.
Gallants showed some skills on the ball and caught Arthur Zwane's charges cold two minutes later after Mahlatse Makudubela got a return pass through on goal and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.
There was a water break midway through the first stanza and that slowed down the tempo of the game, as Chiefs only threatened just before the half-time interval after Ashley Du Preez unleashed a low strike on the edge of the box narrowly wide.
Amakhosi gained momentum in the tail end of the first stanza and combined well going forward but the likes of Dolly, Du Preez and Sekgota could not find spaces in the box to have a shot at goal.
