Pirates' three-game unbeaten run in the league came to an end after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium last weekend.
The Buccaneers dropped down to fifth on the table as a result of the loss, although they sit just two points behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Soweto giants will be without midfielder Goodman Mosele, who will be serving his the last of his two-match suspension after he was sent off in the MTN8 quarter-final win over Royal AM.
The Rockets, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the campaign after going down 1-0 against Cape Town City last weekend. It was also the first time the team conceded a goal.
However, Sead Ramovic's charges have not scored a goal in their last three matches and head into the encounter in seventh spot.
The sides cancelled each other out last season with a win apiece, but Galaxy have a slightly better head-to-head record against the Buccaneers, with two wins in their last four matches.
